With Oasis just around the corner, Alok Narayan, coordinator of the Astro Club, spared some time to talk to the Oasis English Press regarding the club’s preparation for their events in the fest.

The Astro Club organises group discussions on topics related to constellations and telescopes, as part of their semester-round activities. The club is responsible for organising three events in Oasis 2022—Nightwatch, Laser Show, and Astrophotography. While Nightwatch and Laser Show will help participants catch a glimpse of various constellations, Astrophotography will enable them to take pictures of the night sky on their phones.

Alok mentioned that there were a few issues with the clarity of the telescope used during APOGEE this year. Therefore, for Oasis they decided to arrange for add-ons for the telescope to provide a better experience. 

Speaking about his experience as the coordinator, he mentioned that organising events after the pandemic was challenging but his love for astronomy helped him manage everything. He urged all BITSians who are even slightly intrigued by Astronomy to spend more time with the ‘beautiful’ subject.
