The Oasis English Press sat down to have a chat with Divyam Goel, the coordinator of the Mountaineering and Adventure Club (MAC).
Divyam said that MAC is a club for those who are enthusiastic and have the zeal to learn and explore new things. The club not only organises treks every semester but also conducts activities during Oasis and APOGEE.
Since MAC aspires to conduct a variety of events every fest, ‘a considerable amount of effort’ goes into planning them. This year, aside from their trademark event—Paintball—they will host Body Zorbing, Hammer Throw, Power Punching, Bull Riding, and Meltdown. While Hammer Throw and Power Punching are popular arcade games, Body Zorbing aims to be a stress buster.
To help with organising these events, the club is collaborating with the Department of Sponsorship and Marketing.
The club started preparations for the fest two months ago. A majority of the club’s pre-fest work consisted of contacting various vendors, handling negotiations and finalising the events. While the negotiations were tricky at times, the rest was smooth sailing. This Oasis, the club contacted a new vendor who agreed to give them a twenty per cent increase in the number of pellets offered to each participant at no extra charge.
Speaking about his experience as the coordinator, Divyam credited the support of his club members in making his job easier. He concluded by urging BITSians to partake in the events and enjoy themselves.
