The BOSM English Press sat down with Arnav Mathur, the Coordinator of Gurukul, for a brief interview to learn more about the club’s preparations for the fest. Gurukul has been a staple of the inauguration ceremony for quite some time now and will continue the tradition this time as well. When asked about the process of deciding the setlist for the BOSM Inauguration ceremony, Arnav remarked that all the members suggested their song recommendations by filling out a Google form and a setlist was finalised using these inputs, with a major focus being placed on fast-paced songs aligning with the energetic spirit of BOSM. He hinted that a Pineapple Express song would be performed during this year’s Inauguration Ceremony.
Arnav explained that in addition to performing at the Inauguration ceremony, Gurukul would also organise Dhwani during BOSM. Unlike the Inauguration Ceremony, the setlist for the event is not just limited to high-energy songs and would comprise of thirteen to fourteen songs of different genres to cater to a variety of music tastes.
Arnav went on to discuss the preparations for their performances. The setlist was finalised during the summer break and practice sessions had started as soon as the club members were back on the campus. With classes not being suspended during BOSM, Arnav agreed that it was quite hectic coordinating with the workforce, but further remarked that the club members understood the high stakes of their performances and participated responsibly.
When asked about his experience of working with other clubs and departments, Arnav shared that he did not encounter any major challenges. He primarily coordinates with the Department of Sounds and the Department of Lights to get all the pre-performance logistics taken care of, and he expressed his gratitude towards them.
Being able to do what his seniors once did for the club makes the experience as Coordinator special for Arnav. He remarked that it might get demanding at times but having the chance to follow his passion wholeheartedly is what keeps him going.
On a concluding note, Arnav urged all the freshers to enjoy their first fest and to attend as many events as they could.
