The BOSM English Press sat down with Janak Matharu, the Mountaineering and Adventure Club (MAC) Coordinator, for a brief interview to gain insights into their preparatory work for the fest.
Janak relayed that this is the first time MAC is organising events during BOSM. He explained that MAC would be organising the Adventure Zone, comprising events such as Ronaldo’s Header Challenge, Crossbar Challenge, and Tyre Flip Challenge. Ronaldo’s Header Challenge would offer participants a chance to attempt to match footballer Ronaldo’s highest vertical jump record, while the Crossbar Challenge would require one to hit the crossbar as many times as possible in a minute. The Tyre Flip Challenge would be conducted in a leaderboard format, where students would compete to flip the tyre between two checkpoints in the shortest duration, with the winners receiving prizes.
Discussing the expectations surrounding the events, Janak expressed that despite being a sports fest, BOSM had always lacked sporty, outdoor events. This year, with low-cost events like theirs being organised, they are anticipating a greater footfall.
Speaking about preparations for the fest, Janak noted that it was quite challenging to find a vendor for the Tyre Flip Challenge, but they resolved the issue in time. He further mentioned that it could be quite demanding to coordinate with the workforce during the fest, as classes are not suspended during BOSM. However, he added that such issues could be prevented with adequate planning.
Janak stated that his role as the BOSM Coordinator had offered him a great opportunity to showcase his leadership qualities and had been a valuable learning experience so far. He further added that he had an enjoyable time working with his club members and loved trying something new this fest with their support.
Janak concluded the interview by saying, “Come to the MAC stall and enjoy participating in all the events at the Adventure Zone.”
