The BOSM English Press sat down with Dwiti Suchak, Harshit Singh, and Aryan, the Joint Sports Secretaries (JSS) for BOSM 2025, to learn more about their responsibilities and their preparations for the fest.
Dwiti began by explaining the selection process, in which candidates went through three rounds of interviews conducted jointly by a panel comprising the previous JSS, the outgoing and incoming CoSSAc, and the Sports Financial Committee (SFC). A key prerequisite was that applicants must either have participated in at least two BOSMs or completed a full Hostel Sports’ Representative (HSR) period before applying.
Detailing their responsibilities for BOSM, Harshit stated that they managed communication with the teams, oversaw inventory and accommodation, finalized and procured jerseys and jackets for players and organisers, oversaw both on-campus and off-campus publicity, and ensured the smooth conduct of all sports-related activities during the fest. Aryan highlighted the crucial role of the Executive Committee, who assisted in pre-BOSM events and acted as the primary points of contact on the ground during BOSM.
Speaking about what makes this year unique, Harshit noted the expanded scale of pre-BOSM publicity, with additional events such as the marathon and a campus-wide treasure hunt being introduced to build hype early on. Dwiti also shared plans for a more ‘sporty’ Inauguration Ceremony, which will include a formal march-past. On the progress of preparations, Aryan reported that timelines have largely been met, with jerseys and jackets already finalized and delivered on schedule.
When asked about the difficulties faced by them, Aryan revealed that the short preparation window of a month-and-a-half into the new academic year remained a major challenge. Dwiti added that other difficulties included delays in finalizing dates due to multiple clashes and weather issues, and the accommodation crunch caused by Malviya undergoing renovations.
Harshit described their interactions with the SFC as constructive, remarking that while occasional disagreements were inevitable given the oversight role of financial committees, the overall relationship has been smooth. He added that their coordination with the CoSSAc has also been helpful, with the council accommodating timelines and providing resources as needed.
As they reflected on their personal experiences, the trio described the role as both hectic and rewarding. They shared that beyond logistical responsibilities, the position had taught them valuable lessons in problem-solving, negotiation, and people management. Whether it was learning to adapt to the constraints of different departments or balancing conflicting priorities, they emphasized that the role had helped them grow significantly in leadership and communication.
In parting, Dwiti, Harshit, and Aryan urged the student body to embrace BOSM in its full spirit, highlighting that BOSM wasn’t just for the sports teams, but belonged to the entire BITS community.
