General Secretary

With preparations for Oasis in full swing, the Oasis English Press sat down with the General Secretary (GenSec) of the Students’ Union, Aditya Khandelwal, to gain an insight into his role in the organisation and execution of the fest.

Aditya started by talking about how he thought this year’s Oasis would be grander than the last, with an expected increase in the food stall revenue as well. He highlighted that this year, six different artists had been invited for the prof shows. He explained that DJ Parties like the Rotunda Rave and new events like Fake Sangeet would also be at a greater scale. He shared that from the artist lineup, he was looking forward to Divine’s performance the most, being a hip-hop fan.

Addressing the pre-fest deductions, the GenSec assured that this would not become a trend. However, he added that it would be ‘very difficult’ for the StuCCA to conduct Oasis ‘25 without the revenue from the deductions, owing to their extremely negative ledger. He further explained that the ledger could not be replenished by a single edition, but the GenSec felt that it would be back on track after a few years. When asked what events this deduction would give the GBM access to, he said it included all three prof shows, the Rotunda Rave and some other events as well.

Aditya believed that the preparations for Oasis hadn’t changed with him in office. He felt that every GenSec had tried their best to work for the GBM and that he had been trying to remove every hurdle that came their way to ensure the preparations for the fest ran smoothly.

Closing off the interview, the GenSec said, ‘If they have given 1950/-, there should be no hesitation in enjoying the fest,’ and that Oasis was the only time where everyone could enjoy without worrying about their schedule and studies. He urged the GBM to come out and support their batchmates, seniors and juniors during Oasis, restating that everyone had worked hard for the fest’s success.
