With Oasis ’25 just around the corner, the Oasis English Press sat down with Satyam Jha, the Coordinator for the Film Making Club (FMaC), to have a conversation about their work in the fest.
Satyam said that, as the name might suggest, FMaC is mainly responsible for film-making, although they are not restricted to that. FMaC is trying to increase the film culture on campus, which is why they would be hosting a variety of events revolving around culture, storytelling, and entertainment.
According to Satyam, FMaC would host more than 20 events under the Film Festival umbrella in partnership with other clubs. He predicted that it would be larger than ever this year, with prominent figures from the industry visiting campus. FMaC independently organises three major events: Metamorphosis, Hypercut, and Uncharted Escape Room. Metamorphosis, their flagship event, is a short film-making competition, with the winning films being screened during the fest. Satyam added that this year, Hypercut has changed from being an ad-making competition to an editing battle, with the winners creating and editing an advertisement for this year’s sponsors. Uncharted would be an escape room that would require guests to solve puzzles and riddles to get out of a locked room. Satyam added that they have collaborated with ELAS this year to host the club’s first-ever cinephile quiz, Kaun Banega Cinephile. Additionally, the club would offer a unique experience at the FMaC stall, which would feature a 360-degree video booth.
When questioned about his responsibilities as Coordinator, Satyam stated that he mostly served as a bridge between StuCCa and the PoCs while coordinating among his PoCs for the events. He went on to say that his major goal was to make the Film Festival bigger and more spectacular than it had ever been. Satyam stressed the importance of enjoying the process when asked about how he handled the demanding workflow. He constantly tried to raise everyone’s spirits and made sure they had fun.
On a parting note, Satyam said that he feels that FMaC’s work is underrated and that more people should check them out. He concluded by saying that he wanted people to have fun at the fest and had high expectations for the same.
