As Oasis ’25 approaches, the Oasis English Press sat down with Hawishma Madhubala, the Coordinator of the Culinary Club, to dive into their plans and preparation for the fest.
Hawishma shared that this Oasis, they would organise a pizza making workshop, where pairs of participants would be given a pizza base and various toppings and would have to make a pizza. The club would also incorporate the Japanese fest theme, ‘Whispers of Edo’, by organising a mochi ice-cream workshop where the participants would be given mochi dough, ice-cream flavours of their choice, and various toppings.
Hawishma said that the club had started preparing for the fest in September, and that they had to place orders for ingredients, and source equipment. She added that most of the work to be done for these events could only be done a day or two before the event. Hawishma also emphasized the rapport that the club members had, which helped them work better. She thanked StuCCA for promptly helping them finalise the funding for their event.
When asked whether the club had faced any setbacks, she mentioned the change of vendors for ingredients and a current issue with obtaining an oven.
When asked about her experience as a Coordinator, she said that it was harder than she expected, but she really appreciated the help of her fellow juniors.
