Department of Publication and Correspondence APOGEE

With APOGEE approaching, the English Press Club spoke to Anagha Sharma, the CoStAAn of the Department of Publication and Correspondence (PCr-A), to understand the department’s work in the weeks leading up to the fest.

She explained that their work usually began in the odd semester with building a database of colleges across the country. In the even semester, the focus shifted towards contacting these colleges. During which the department started with its Campus Ambassador (CA) programme, reaching out to both old and new ambassadors and introducing a structured system where they earned points and incentives for promoting APOGEE.

Alongside this, members of PCr-A began calling colleges using their database to pitch APOGEE and its events. Anagha shared that to strengthen outreach, the department conducted work trips to cities like Jaipur, Delhi, and Chandigarh. During these visits, they met college authorities and student representatives to invite them to the fest. She said that local colleges also contributed significantly to participant numbers.

She mentioned that PCr-A also managed publications such as posters, banners, and passes. This year, the department brought back the design vertical, and formed a dedicated team to handle the designing of passes and related material. She added that the department managed event listings on Unstop, where they uploaded events, tracked registrations, and coordinated with organisers and participants.

Anagha stated that the week leading up to the fest was especially important, involving final follow-ups with participants and conducting APOGEE Snaps. She explained that during the fest, the workload would be relatively lighter, with a few members handling participant approvals while others focusing on welcoming visiting cohorts and event-wise callings.

On the challenges faced, Anagha mentioned brief disruptions, which she refused to comment on, that affected timelines. However, she stated that the department had largely stayed on schedule and met its targets. When asked about goals, she said the team aimed to surpass previous participation numbers while maintaining strong overall performance, though she avoided stating exact figures.

Reflecting on her experience, Anagha described it as ‘ecstatic’. She also emphasised the importance of working closely with her co-coordinators, describing the department as being led by a close-knit team of three wingies.
