The APOGEE English Press interviewed Jay Nangia, the Coordinator of IEEE, the student branch of the international organisation at BITS Pilani, to ask them about their preparation for the upcoming fest.
Jay started off by describing the regular functions of the club—ranging from semester projects to organising workshops. He mentioned that this year, the proposal was initiated by first years. All club members were provided with resources to work on the proposal and this was later presented to the Faculty In-Charge (FIC).Â
Talking about APOGEE ‘25, Jay said that they had conducted two events. The MicroMouse event, involved building a small bot to navigate a maze, and AI Poker, which involved creating an artificial agent to win at poker.
Jay further elaborated that there were two new events conducted by the club this year. The Line Follower event involves creating a bot to follow complex paths and choose the correct direction at an intersection, to get to the centre. Market Royale is an online event, which is simulates the stock market where contestants create an engine to analyse data and make trades, to maximise their profit.
Jay mentioned that further changes to the existing events involved altering the micromouse maze, and fixing some unbalanced strategies in AI poker.
He also talked about how his job as a coordinator was made much simpler due to the work done by the rest of the team. He said that all his interactions with the CoStAA have gone very well, and wanted to thank everyone for making the process as smooth as possible. To conclude, Jay urged everyone to come and attend the fest, as it’s a quick break from the daily campus life, and an all-round enjoyable time.
