Photography Club

With the fest just a few days away, the APOGEE English Press sat down with Aakash Baid, the APOGEE Coordinator for the Photography Club (Photog), to gain insight into the club’s role during the fest.

Aakash mentioned that the club would be organising four events this APOGEE.

The first one—Bokeh—the club’s flagship event, would showcase the shots captured by the club’s members right before the fest in an art gallery style. The second event—Photobooth—would allow people to get their own photos captured as well as printed afterwards.

The other two events are competitions, which would be held online, namely Pixel and Capture APOGEE. The former is a photography competition open for all to participate in, while the latter is where the participants could post the photos they take during APOGEE. Both of these events will award a cash prize.

When asked about the club’s preparatory work preceding the fest, Aakash stated that the members of the club start photographing the pictures to be showcased during Bokeh three weeks before the fest. He also mentioned that Photog was the official photography partner of APOGEE 2026, and would be covering all the events taking place during the fest.

Aakash stated that the club already had enough equipment available with them for the pre-fest work, and they rent extra equipment from a known vendor during the fest, if required. When asked about his experience as an APOGEE Coordinator, he stated that it had been good so far, but the majority of the work, and the accompanying ‘headaches’, were yet to come.

On a parting note, Aakash encouraged his fellow BITSians to come visit their gallery event,  Bokeh, emphasising that it is ‘an event not to be missed’ and reflected an immense amount of effort put in behind the scenes.Â
