The APOGEE English Press sat down with Aditya Singh, the Coordinator of the Public Policy Club (PPC), to discuss the club’s preparations for the upcoming fest.
Aditya introduced the PPC as a club of geopolitical enthusiasts who debate not just to win, but to come to an outcome. He further elaborated that many club members were UPSC aspirants and some might even consider taking CAT examinations.
He explained that the club would be organising two events this year, RealPolitik and Politpoly. He elaborated that RealPolitik would be an auction-based event, where participants would bid for politicians and form their own cabinets, while Politpoly — a board game similar to Monopoly — would be a new addition to the events the club conducted during APOGEE, being conducted due to its popularity during the previous edition of Oasis.
Aditya stated that preparations for Politpoly had been challenging for the club members. During Oasis 2024, he explained, their events had exceeded the expected footfall, and had become difficult for them to manage. He added that they had learnt from their past experience, and had thus decided to obtain more cards for the current iteration of Politpoly and book a bigger room. He also shared that they would be reducing the duration of RealPolitik so that the participants did not stay anchored to the event, and could enjoy the rest of the fest.
Talking about their budget, the Coordinator mentioned that the PPC did not require much investment to conduct their events. They needed help with printing boards and cards for Politpoly, which would be handled by the Department of Publications and Correspondence.
He mentioned that the CoStAA was ‘really happy’ with the footfall generated by the PPC and hence, they did not face any difficulties while pitching their events. He concluded by expressing the necessity for individuals to have their own opinions on policies, and invited people to participate in their events.
