The BOSM English Press sat down with Abhyuday, the Joint Coordinator for The Eastern Outlook (TEO), to gain insights into what the club had in store for us this BOSM.
Abhyuday revealed that TEO would bring back their popular legacy events: Sumo Wrestling, Beyblade Tournament, Stalls along with a Movie Screening, tentatively featuring the movie “100 Meters”.
Sumo Wrestling, the most successful event of the club, would return once again. Addressing the hygiene concern from the previous edition, Abhyuday explained that the club had partnered with a new vendor to source suits and that it was going to implement better cleaning protocols to maintain hygiene standards. He added that they had permanently purchased the suits to reduce long-term operational costs for the event.
Alongside this, they would also host their classic Beyblade Tournament and set up two stalls: a Poster stall and a Mini-Games Stall, the latter offering a variety of games such as sling puck, jenga, and more.
The preparations for the fest started during the summer vacation, when they had finalised the new wrestling suit vendor and planned all their events. They also held meetings to design the layout of the stalls and to get the newly recruited juniors familiarised with the process.
He was happy with how smoothly the preparations had progressed, noting that most issues pop up during the fest when they need to manage the on-ground logistics. He pointed out that classes don’t interfere much with the work schedule since the stalls don’t open until after 4:00 PM.
Discussing how preparations for BOSM differ from the other fests, Abhyuday pointed out a clear difference in the target audience. Since the OASIS audience leaned towards niche interests, the club curated anime quizzes and targeted movie screenings for the large number of anime enthusiasts who attended. However, BOSM called for broader, ‘surface-level events’ that anyone could easily jump into and enjoy.
Reflecting on the mistakes made in the previous fest, Abhyuday noted that they struggled with unsold stock, which prompted them to order a smaller, fixed batch of posters.
With their legacy events performing exceptionally well over the past two years, he expected this BOSM to be no different, counting on their proven track record to bring in solid footfall and profits.
On a closing note, Abhyuday expressed deep gratitude to his seniors for staying involved and helping out with preparations despite being away for their PS-II. He encouraged freshers to step out, attend concerts and enjoy the experience with their friends, noting that nothing quite compares to one’s first fest experience. He suggested attending the sports matches if they were interested in a specific sport, or at the very least, dropping by the stalls to experience the fest to its fullest.
