The BOSM English Press recently interviewed Vansh Dhillon, captain of the skating team, to learn about the team’s preparations for the upcoming sports meet. 

Their main event, Roll Ball, was a fast-paced game that combined the rules of handball with skating. The team consisted of 27 players divided into four teams—three boys’ teams and one girls’ team with six on the field, along with two to three substitutes each. The tournament itself would be hosted in a round-robin style with about five teams competing for the gold medal. 

Vansh noted that practice had been quite rigorous, taking about three hours every day except Sundays. However, due to the sporadic weather, heavy rains regularly hampered preparations. In addition, the frequent power outages in GymG hindered their practice due to the lack of proper lighting. 

He mentioned that this year, he had planned to focus on strategic positional play, as he felt it was something the team had lacked in previous competitions. He stated that though the team had had a coach up till last year, they did not have one this BOSM due to scheduling issues.

When asked about his expectations from the sports meet, Vansh stated that they anticipated strong competition this year, with some colleges participating with national-level players in their lineup. Regardless, he was quite confident in their team, stating that they viewed it as an ‘ego issue’ and planned to secure the gold medal. 

Finally, Vansh appealed to the GBM to continue to skate. He explained that most people—while having learnt it in middle school never actively played it later. He advised the GBM not to blindly follow the crowd and instead pursue what they were passionate about.
