With Oasis ’26 just around the corner, the Oasis English Press had a chat with Aditya Dey, the Oasis Coordinator of the Creative Activities Club (CrAC), to get an insight into the club’s workings, as well as their events for the fest.
Aditya explained that one of the tasks CrAC had for Oasis was to paint the Oasis letters placed in front of FD-2. These panels heavily incorporated the Oasis ’26 theme—Dawn of the Djinns. He shared, ‘The first thing that comes to your mind when you hear of the theme showed up in the panels.’
During the fest, CrAC would conduct three events: Splash, a face-painting event; Graffiti Room, a spray can painting event in FD-2; and a paid pot painting activity, which would be held at their stall in Krishna parking.
Aditya mentioned that as Coordinator, he had tried his best to streamline the entire pre-fest process and work on a few of the shortcomings with his experience in CrAC. He explained how this year, their preparatory work had started ‘later than usual’, due to the large number of leaves taken by the new juniors. He stated that the members were working under a time crunch as, at the time of the interview, only about half of the actual work had been completed. Aditya also added that this year, CrAC had originally planned a life-sized structure of Jasmine, but to create a contrast with the OASIS panels, they switched the character to the antagonist Jafar.
When asked about his experience as the Coordinator, he admitted that when he had seen his seniors work, he had thought it was a ‘pretty easy job’, but now, he could see the responsibilities that came with being a Coordinator. He explained how he had learnt a lot from having to coordinate with the CrAC members as well as with other clubs and departments. He added that coordinating people’s time was a major challenge throughout the process but felt that it was ‘satisfying’ when their work sessions happened in full swing, and real progress was made.
