With Oasis ’26 just around the corner, the Oasis English Press (OEP) sat down with Havish Chinta, the Coordinator for the Department of Audiforce, to learn more about their preparations for Oasis ‘26.
Havish started off by saying that the department mainly coordinated the entry management of concerts, audi-shows, and other major revenue generating events. He further explained that their main responsibilities included talking to the barricading vendor, coordinating with the Chief Security Officer (CSO) to estimate the number of guards required, deploying guards during the fest, and managing entries through scanning. He added that the department also worked with the Estate Management Unit (EMU) to get South Park cleaned before the fest. Apart from this, they were also looking after hostel fencing, mainly around the Shankar-Vyas area, and finalising contracts with a new barricading vendor.
Havish revealed that the department would be managing entries and crowd control for multiple events during the fest, including the two concerts — ‘Hip-Hop Nite‘ and ‘Bollywood Nite’. He further talked about how the department started pitching for events this year. He added that pitching for events also gave them a chance to manage artist hospitality along with entry scanning — making communication between the organisers and artists easier.
Havish mentioned that the students from the first, second and third years were involved in managing event signups, eatery stalls and security duties. With the department taking up more events this year, a new Position of Responsibility (POR), the Assistant Secretary, had been introduced for the members who were in their second-year. The Assistant Secretary would work alongside the Fest Coordinator and the Joint Coordinator and help maintain communication between the junior and senior batches.
Talking about the challenges faced during the pre-fest preparations, Havish expressed frustration with the pitching sessions involving the StuCCA. He mentioned that there had been a lot of miscommunication between the StuCCA and CRC representatives, with event budgets often being changed or not finalised. However, he remarked that the department’s other pre-fest preparations had been going smoothly.
On a parting note, Havish advised the GBM to not sneak into the T-Zone during the concerts, encouraged them to follow the rules and regulations, and to have an absolute blast during this year’s edition of Oasis.
