Venil Reddy, the first ever BOSM coordinator of Audi Force, summarizes the work of the department quite concisely – ‘We manage everything in the auditorium, and make sure everything goes right.’
Perhaps due to the extreme difficulty of playing any sport in an enclosed region filled with seats, BOSM has never made use of the grand auditorium apart from holding the inauguration ceremony. This year, however, is an exception; there is one more event scheduled to happen in the Audi – the comedy prof show: ‘The Punch Hour’. Managing the crowd, the seating arrangements, and ensuring that people maintain proper conduct in the auditorium during these events is the department’s primary responsibility. ‘We don’t work a lot before the fest’, says Venil. ‘Most of our work is during the fest.’
If any club or department wants to use the auditorium for anything, it is also up to AudiForce to give them that reservation. But, Venil does admit that BOSM does not normally have a lot of shows. He asserts that having classes during BOSM will not affect the department’s duties at all.
Additionally, they often have to deal with unforeseen issues during the auditorium events. ‘People are sometimes rude’, observes Venil. ‘When shows are delayed, someone must take the blame.’ That, however, doesn’t stop him and the department from doing their job as well as they can.
