English Language Activities Society (ELAS)

With Oasis ’26 just a few short days away, the Oasis English Press (OEP) sat down with Gaurav Naidu, the Oasis Coordinator of English Language Activities Society (ELAS), to get a taste of what they had planned for this edition of the fest.

This year, ELAS would be hosting the Oasis Quiz, the India Quiz, and the Travel & Living Quiz. These three quizzes were set to host quizmasters from Delhi’s quizzing circuit. Additionally, they would also be hosting the History & Mythology Quiz, and a collaboration with FMaC called Mela Mania. When asked about the nature of the quizzes and how beginner friendly they were, he clarified that except for Mela Mania which tended to be a bit technical, all other quizzes were completely beginner friendly, and that most of them played on logic rather than rote memorization of facts. Gaurav also mentioned that they would be incorporating the theme of the fest—Dawn of the Djinns into the History & Mythology quiz.

On the timeline of the events hosted by the club, Gaurav said that preparations began in October, but they were difficult to plan due to several constraints regarding the budget and other logistical issues. For internal quizzes, they started preparing around a week before the start of the fest.

On his experience as Coordinator, he described it as ‘fun, but tiring’, as he believed that attending at least one meeting per day was a very hectic commitment to honor.

To conclude, he said that the club always looked for the ‘Aha!’ factor on the faces of participants when they hosted their events during the fest, and that they hoped the quizzes during Oasis ’26 would see a good turnout.
