Department of Photography

Keerti P, BOSM coordinator for the Department Of Photography (DoPy), seemed at home amidst all the camera clicks in SAC. With the freshers posing for photos, the second year students were polishing their skills behind the lenses.  Since DoPy has to cover every event in BOSM, he knew that a storm of work was due in two weeks.

DoPy’s work is to primarily manage the photo booth during BOSM and get snaps of outstation participants. Keerti has planned things differently this year – snaps will be taken just before matches and be delivered by Day 3 of BOSM. While their pre-BOSM work is light, they are currently designing the diary that is sold every year. Each diary has a theme – last year’s was movie posters. This year, DoPy has decided to go for a sports based diary, which surprisingly has never been a theme previously.

With classes going on during BOSM, Keerti accepts that there is always a shortage of resources. “The members will choose to attend a few of the classes during BOSM, and we fall short of covering some events since there simply aren’t enough people”, he says. Keerti feels that the recruitments are more important than the work during BOSM, since people are always there to share BOSM work with. “Recruitments are the most fun part of the job, and to get a good junior batch is my main role.” He’s also sure that they will have a fair bit of fun during BOSM since he has the support of the third years.

After BOSM however, DoPy will have to tie all loose ends. They will have to process and deliver all photographs. Pre-OASIS work will also start with full swing before the mid-sems.” It’s a continuous process and since we work for all three fests, the work never truly ends”, he remarks.

While the second year shutterbugs continue with their work, Keerti signs off with some advice for freshers – “Skip a few classes and enjoy BOSM to the maximum since it’s your first fest on campus. Explore things.” With Keerti leading from the front, DoPy seems set to succeed in their goal of getting the whole of BOSM shot and framed.
