The Creative Activities Club, known as CrAC, works throughout the year to decorate the campus for all three fests. Anirudh Aggarwal, the Oasis coordinator of CrAC, was enthusiastic in shedding light on the club’s work during Oasis in a brief but informative chat with the English Press.
This Oasis, the club is working on a Diagon Alley based panel/photo booth for all Potterheads and a structure of Drogon, one of the three dragons in Game of Thrones. CrAC is also filling a street with artworks of popular fictional characters, and a gallery wall displaying the best artworks made by the members of the club. Last years’ favorite prop – the word Oasis in 3D lettering – has been remade and painted to suit the theme.
Among events, CrAC is retaining the all time favorites – Splash, the face painting extravaganza, Contrasto, a freestyle black and white charcoal sketching event, and Canvas Street, where anyone can pick up a brush and paint graffiti style.
Within the club, members have been divided into teams headed by second years, with each team managing a particular piece of art. Third years of the club take up managerial positions and hold posts of coordinator, joint coordinator and secretary.
When asked about his experience as club coordinator, Anirudh said that the jump from club member to coordinator was very disorienting. Till his second year, his role in the club was limited to working on art. This time however, he has been working on giving exposure to juniors, to prepare them when they take up positions themselves.
Anirudh was happy with his interactions with the StuCCa and Institute. ‘StuCCa has been quite supportive so far. They really want to make the campus lively to its fullest this Oasis, and that’s something we’ll make sure goes awesome’, he said.
Anirudh looks forward to Oasis and wishes that all BITSians turn up for events. ‘Art is what gives life to a college fest – CrAC will be doing its best to present everyone a platform to let their inner artist out and indulge in colorful madness!’ he concluded.
