Abstract – Game of Thrones is a worldwide phenomenon with a very active and dedicated fan base. This paper aims to uncover a connection between the show and its viewership by analyzing social psychology traits such as prejudice, social cognition, and personal perception along with development psychology traits such as gender role perception, and personality development. It further aims to discover what keeps fans of this show loyal, and what social phenomena are responsible for its increasing popularity. An increasing viewership can be broadly credited to peer pressure, influence of popular culture, its relevance as a case study for cinematic adaptation, and its entertaining nature. Establishing a link between these factors and the show’s reception will aid the entertainment industry. The paper will also be discussing the influence of Game of Thrones on subconscious behaviour of its viewership. Questionable morality, power struggle, and misogyny are integral to the show’s culture and narrative. It is the responsibility of society to evaluate the psychological affects the effective/ineffective portrayal of such themes has on its viewers, and to develop a model for negative feedback.
