Coming straight from a practice session, Table Tennis captain Aditya Patil explained that each match is played until a side scores eleven points, and the best of five matches is considered. The team events will have two singles and one doubles match.
The team has been training hard for the event, practising twice a day using multiple training routines. Currently, there are two first years, three second years, three third years and one M.E. student in the team. The recruitment process is very thorough, with only two first years being chosen out of almost forty that applied. Aditya is optimistic about the prospects of his team, and is hoping to continue their four-year gold streak at BOSM. He considers IIT Delhi as their major opponent.
Unlike last year, the team has many inexperienced players, with most playing in a tournament for the first time. But the captain is pleased with their preparation and has faith in their ability.
Patil fondly remembers the team’s previous captain, and wishes to emulate his methods while guiding his players this year. Although he finds captaincy stressful to handle along with academic pressure, he is enjoying the experience.
