From colorful psychedelic art to the dark gothic and punk elements, Arushi Coudhary, the coordinator of the Creative Activites Club (CrAC) promises to deliver a visual treat this Oasis. The club is making two structures this Oasis, along with the Oasis panel that features ‘Oasis’ written in block letters. They have work sessions regularly for preparing the structures. Apart from these, CrAC also hosts events like Contrasto, Canvas Street, and Splash.
This year, CrAC has put a spin on its trademark structure of Oasis – each letter will represent a movement under the counter-culture. The letters will also have projections, adding a 3D look to the structure. They are working on two other structures, titled ‘The Demonic Occult’ and ‘The Hippie Booth’. The Hippie Booth is filled with psychedelic art on the inside. According to Arushi, ‘The Demonic Occult’ is a structure that everyone should experience for themselves, during Oasis.
Among events, CrAC organizes Contrasto, an event where contestants juxtapose their art on black and white sheets of paper. In Canvas Street, contestants are provided with sheets of paper to make graffiti on. Just before EDM night, CrAC will be organizing Splash – a face painting event. Since it is before EDM night, Arushi encouraged people to attend the event and get aesthetic designs painted on their face before attending the concert.
When asked about her experience as coordinator, Arushi agreed that while managing the club was hectic, she also learnt a lot. Between BOSM and midsems, the club effectively had 15 days to prepare for Oasis. The club is excited about the theme as it has a lot of scope for exploring newer forms of art. As a parting message to BITSians, Arushi encouraged people to attend their events and make the most of Oasis.
