With only a week left for Oasis, the clubs and departments are busy organizing their events and gearing up for the fest. The Oasis Hindi Press is no different. Nimisha Jain, the coordinator of the Oasis Hindi Press, took time out of her hectic schedule to talk to the Oasis English Press about the club’s contribution to the fest and her experience as its coordinator.
‘Our main task before Oasis is to bring out the WallMag, which contains interviews of the coordinators of all clubs and departments,’ she said. The club also circulates a newsletter during the fest–one issue for each of the four days–which provides an insight into the events conducted the previous day.
In addition to the above, the Oasis Hindi Press is conducting three events this time around. The first is an interactive quiz called “Cocktail”, which tests participants’ creativity and humour. “Bluffmaster” is the club’s oratory event. It requires contestants to answer bizarre questions and think outside the box. Their third event is “WordWars”, which is a pre-Oasis online quiz. ‘At this point, we are done with the work for the WallMag. We are currently preparing questions for the three events,’ said Nimisha.
Other than a slight change in the format for “Cocktail”, there is no difference between the events organized this year and the last. Over the years, the club has tried to alter its events to suit the tastes of participants. They have also added creative articles, stories, and cartoons to their newsletter to boost its popularity.
Nimisha said she was satisfied with her experience as the coordinator, and that she had become better at keeping her cool and dealing with people because of this responsibility. She urged the BITSian junta to make the most of the four days of the fest. ‘I hope everyone keeps working hard for Oasis, as their efforts will definitely pay off,’ she said, before signing off.
