The coordinator of the Department of Firewallz, Ram Jaswanth Voleti spoke to the Oasis English Press about his department’s role in Oasis.
The Department of Firewallz is responsible for handling the entry, registration, and surveillance of outstation participants during the fests. With a turnout of over a thousand participants each year, this is no mean feat. Firewallz obtains a list of participants from PCr and verifies credentials and other details before allowing entry.
Ram has a workforce of fifteen first years, fifteen second years, and eight third years to help with this massive influx of participants. Most of the department’s work occurs during the fest, and he hoped that they would not face any major issues. While he admitted that the work is difficult, he believed that the experienced gained over the last two years would help him out.
He ended the interview by stating that while the department can make sure the outstation participants don’t “cross any lines”, they aren’t responsible for BITSians. However, he was confident that BITSians can keep their behaviour in check for the duration of the fest.
