With less than a week left for Oasis ‘18, the Matrix coordinator, Piyush Bhatt, spoke to the English Press about the club’s work for the Oasis. Known for the regular discussions on cinema and literature, Matrix has a multitude of events planned for Oasis.
The club has two movie screenings this year – ‘Easy Rider’ and ‘Trainspotting’ – both are based on ‘counterculture’ and hence, highlight this year’s theme. The other event that Matrix has planned is ‘Triathlon’, in which three activities go on simultaneously. From a team of ten, four have to participate in a treasure hunt, while the remaining six have to participate in two quiz sessions- ‘Minimalist’ and ‘What Happens Next’.
‘A lot of effort goes into organizing these events,’ says Piyush. The club goes through several movies before handpicking the ones fit for screening. They also spend considerable time on working on clues and questions for the Triathlon. According to Piyush, the satisfaction obtained from seeing people enjoy their events motivates them to work harder each year.
When asked about his experience as coordinator, Piyush maintained that it had been smooth sailing so far, and that juggling studies and fest-related responsibilities had never been an issue. He had one message for participants before signing off – ‘Participate actively in all of these events, in order to experience and better understand this year’s theme of counterculture.’
