When contacted by the BOSM English Press, Shefali Tripathi, coordinator of the Hindi Activities Society (HAS) kindly consented to spare some time for an interview.
HAS has worked for other fests in the past, and entered the BOSM charter only recently. Shefali said that they will be organising an event called “Quilympics”. It is an individual event which will be conducted on the BOSM app on all four days of the fest between 5 pm and 10 pm, with a new question being put up every hour. Their preparatory work for BOSM involves the preparation of various questions for the event.
When asked about what they want to achieve through introducing events in BOSM she said that they want to try this new event and see how it goes. ‘Since we are a relatively new addition to the BOSM charter we do not have a well-established agenda for the fest as such, however, we look to bring in multiple events in the future,’ said Shefali about the agenda for this edition of BOSM. A slam poetry event and “Filmy Muqabla”, like they conduct in other fests, are some of the exciting things they would like to bring in soon.
Shefali so far has thoroughly enjoyed her experience as coordinator of the club and does not find the work too stressful, however she did mention that sometimes ensuring that work gets done on time can be pretty difficult. Talking about recruitments, she said that the only criteria for recruiting people into HAS is the fact that they are a lot of fun to ‘hangout’ with and that no ‘special prerequisites’ are required as the work is taught to them when they join the club.
When asked about how roles are assigned to members of HAS she said that the allotment is based purely on the interests of that particular member and not on seniority but the coordinators and heads of the various events they organise are seniors and the freshers are primarily assigned “grunt work”.
Shefali’s message to BITSians, was a plea for all to download the BOSM app, participate in ‘Quilympics’ and contribute towards making it a grand success.
