Swarup, the BOSM coordinator of the Department of Photography (DoPy), joined in for a quick chat at SAC, taking a break from a session for the said department.
The department generally covers all events that happen around campus. These also include cultural nights or inaugurations, where they mainly click to improve their skills and create content for the social media pages.
When asked about the preparatory work for BOSM, Swarup elaborated, ”The second-year members take the snaps while the first-year members are the ones who detail.” Detailing is the process of writing down ID numbers when a snap is taken.
DoPy’s primary work includes going to various events and taking snaps of different groups, which are later billed and distributed. They also cover every sports event during the fest which they later post on their social media pages. They also host a photo booth at Gym-G where they have different backgrounds for individuals or groups to take snaps.
One new addition is the merchandise stall where they will be selling four types of diaries. They will also be taking the snaps of all the teams participating in the events.
Swarup remarked that although the work of the department has not changed much, they have been expanding on the idea of a merchandise stall. He considers the timely completion of their work, while being more efficient, as his goal this year. On being asked about his experience as a coordinator, he said,” Even though managing a large group of people is challenging, I have become used to it.”
On a parting note, Swarup made a joking plea for the general BITSian to not go off-campus during BOSM and take a lot of DoPy snaps.
