Nirmaan

The BOSM English Press reached out to the coordinator of Nirmaan, Rohan Goyal, to speak with him about his club’s activities during BOSM.

Nirmaan is a registered non-profit organization that works on issues related to education, women empowerment, youth employment, community development, and other related fields. During BOSM, the club’s primary job is to establish and attract beneficiary groups by reaching out to them and building a rapport with them. The work then shifts to a more general management-related position, as they plan and manage events — allotting volunteers for specific activities.

This year, Nirmaan has conducted a two-day sports event for a beneficiary. For this event, girls from the sixth grade and above were invited to a tournament. The main motive of this event was the empowerment of women. As Rajasthan is one of the major Indian centres for wrestling, the event was aimed towards helping girls pick these sports up professionally.

When he first joined the club, Rohan was excited about the work that Nirmaan was involved in. The club further grew on him these few years, and also changed his perspective. While he does admit that the role of a coordinator is difficult, he has enjoyed working with the new volunteers.
