The Oasis English Press had the opportunity to interview Mudit Gera, the co-ordinator of the Photography Club, who elucidated us on the work they do prior to and during Oasis.
The Photography Club, or Photog as they are more commonly known, covers all major events throughout the fest and the photos that they take will be used for publicity. They also do their own personal projects in order to further improve their skills, and have garnered a large amount of equipment and cameras over the years that aids them in this endeavour.
Last year, Photog was informed a few days before Oasis that they would have to cover the events of the fest without any professional help. As a result, their schedule was very hectic and they only just managed to cover all the events they were asked to. This year, events have been allotted to everyone well in advance, to better handle the workload. Even though all of the club members participate in shoots, they do not have the manpower to cover all the events in a fest as large as Oasis, so the StuCCA grades events and prioritises coverage based on that.
The role as coordinator is quite time consuming and requires one to distribute the workload efficiently. Mudit, however, looks forward to his work in Oasis, and is eagerly awaiting Biswa Kalyan Rath’s standup show. He mentioned that it was difficult to incorporate the theme of Neon-Noir into their events, but they have tried their best, nonetheless, to integrate it into the Photography Exhibition.
