Basketball (Boys) – Dharm Pratap Singh Khichi

With BOSM around the corner, the BOSM English Press (BEP) reached out to Dharm Pratap Singh Khichi, captain of the Boys’ Basketball team, for a quick chat.

He said that he has been playing basketball since he was in sixth grade but lost touch during his senior years in high school. He has played state-level basketball twice previously, and during the BITS Premier League (BPL) last semester he won the gold medal and was the MVP. He added that being in college has helped him get back in form and in the game. Since this is his first time being the captain, Dharm said that being the captain is certainly not an easy task and it takes a toll on the individual. When asked about the challenges he is facing as the captain, he said, ‘Calling people every day for practice is a huge task as I am highly motivated for the sport but sometimes my colleagues are not.’ He added that everyone looks up to him as the captain, leaving no room for mistakes, on and off the court.

Talking about the upcoming tournaments and the team’s preparations for the same, he shared that they were quite nervous as the team would be competing as a whole in BOSM for the first time. The team had competed in the IIT Delhi and IIT Kanpur tournaments but would be playing on the home grounds for the first time. ‘A lot of sports-quota teams from Delhi colleges are coming, and they are a tough competition,’ he added. He also said that the team has zeal, but lacks competitive experience. Nevertheless, they are excited to compete in BOSM.

Dharm further mentioned that, aside from a few issues involving inventories and the budget, the administration and the CoSSAc had been quite helpful whenever needed.
