The BOSM English Press sat down with the coordinator of BITS Embryo, Raashi Vanwani, to talk about their preparation for BOSM.
Founded in 2011, Embryo’s initial purpose was to conduct talks on topics extending beyond academics. However, Raashi explained that since then the club has expanded its scope and are now responsible for inviting Chief Guests in BOSM and Oasis. They also conduct the APOGEE Innovation Challenge in our technical fest. This year, they also hosted pre-BOSM live talks with leading Indian archers, Atanu Das and Komalika Bari, both of which had great turnouts.
Work for inviting the BOSM Chief Guest began in June and since then Embryo has been actively working on compiling a database to contact a prospective Chief Guest. After consistent efforts and long work sessions, Embryo was able to finalise Mr Jitu Rai as the Chief Guest for BOSM. He is a pistol shooter in the 10m and 50m categories and is a recipient of the Khel Ratna and Padma Shri awards. He has, also, received numerous accolades including a Gold Medal at the 2018 Commonwealth games.
Raashi joined Embryo last year and has since ‘learnt a lot of new things’ as a part of this organisation. Commending her team, she said that their resolve to go an extra mile for any task was very inspiring. However, following the COVID-19 pandemic, transition to the offline mode of functioning wasn’t easy for Embryo. Since the last edition of BOSM happened in 2019, Raashi had to approach their club’s alumni to better understand their work for the fest.
As the interview drew to a close, she encouraged the students to attend their talks which spanned across a vast range of themes and topics. ‘The students will get an enriching experience, and we assure that anyone who attends these talks will have a lot to learn and take back from them,’ she concluded.
