Nirmaan

Man owes the happiness of his life to society. Hence, it is his duty to serve the society in the best possible manner. This is something that Nirmaan, as an organisation firmly believes in and something we, as human beings must inculcate in our lives.

Nirmaan is a vast organisation, spreading its roots far and beyond. There is a spirit of social service and brotherhood at the heart of every event and that is something which must truly be appreciated. As always, there will be a Nirmaan stall on the campus, which serves as a platform for various Self Help Groups (SHG’S) and nearby communities to market and sell their products. This also serves as a means of publicity, to spread awareness among people regarding the work of Nirmaan. So anyone who wishes to try out authentic Rajasthani handbags or kurtas, do visit the Nirmaan stall.

As a part of their fundraiser, Nirmaan is hosting one of the most exciting and, if I must include, ‘stomach filling’ event this Oasis 2016 which is the “Food Eating Challenge”. The rules are simple. Everyone who wishes to take part must pay a certain amount of money. Each team consists of at least 4 participants, and the person who eats the most within 4 minutes, wins the challenge and gets the money back. However, the money paid by the other 3 contestants will go straight to the Nirmaan funds from where it will be distributed among the SHG’S and other communities who are in need of it.

That’s not all. There is going to be a pre-Oasis event as well, known as the “Joy of Sharing Week”. The whole week is dedicated to spread the joy sharing among the common folk. Each day is an event in itself. There is going to movie screening for the mess workers, recreational activities for kids studying in nearby schools. A “Wishing Tree” will also be put up in the campus. Anyone interested can pledge money or anything which could be used for the welfare of the children. “The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in service of others” is what the whole week is all about.

Although it sounds pretty impressive, it does take an enormous amount of effort. The caterers need to be hired, the stalls need to be put up, so on and so forth. Nevertheless Arjun Gupta, coordinator of Nirmaan, is positive that his team can pull it off. Amidst all these activities, Nirmaan in collaboration with the Film Making Club (FMaC) is coming up with a short video, as a part of their publicity campaign, to showcase their work.” It is a daunting task, but we are doing it for a cause, there is no backing down”. Their spirit is truly commendable.

“All Men Must Serve” is the motto of Nirmaan and they indeed stand as a testament to their cause. We wish them the best of luck in all their endeavours.
