Chemical Engineering Association

Deep Jain, the coordinator of the Chemical Engineering Association, sat down with the APOGEE English Press to speak about their work

Deep explained that the Chemical Engineering Association is going to organise three events for APOGEE. The first event is called “Case-by-Case” conducted in collaboration with the Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers (IIChE). According to Deep, this event is a ‘small-scale industry experience’ for chemical engineering enthusiasts. The second event, “Chem-E-Trade,” combines concepts from chemical engineering and trading. Lastly, “Labyrinth” unlike the regular board game, involves a chemical twist where players are supposed to move a water droplet using hydrophobic paint.

All three events are free for all participants. According to Deep, the Chemical Engineering Association is working hard to make their events attractive, in line with the theme of the fest.  The association has been brainstorming ideas for a healthy turnout of participants. He said that the association had originally planned 15–20 events but had to shortlist only three.

Deep mentioned facing issues while getting professors onboard as judges. This required pitching their events to the professors to feature in the events while simultaneously dealing with already existing communication issues among members.

He expressed that the CoStAA has been incredibly helpful in their planning process, catering to all their requests and accommodating them despite a few hiccups. On a closing note, he requested all BITSians to participate in their events.
