The APOGEE English Press sat down with Stephen Wilson, coordinator of the Manufacturing Engineering Association, to talk about their preparation for the fest.
When asked about the association, Stephen said, ‘The association compared to others is relatively new and the members are enthusiastic about proving their mettle.’ According to him, ‘Similar to the branch of manufacturing, being new gives us the opportunity to reinvent ourselves more easily without feeling the pressure of the past.’
Stephen mentioned that the association will be organising two events based on Reverse Engineering and Supply Chain Management. He urged the BITSian student community to attend these events as they will provide an opportunity to learn practical concepts not often taught in classrooms.
Stephen remarked that the workload of the association generally becomes more hectic during fests. He thanked his juniors and core committee members of the association, lauding them as the association’s biggest resources. He praised the association’s ‘efficient distribution and execution of its work’, which prevented the workload from becoming too hectic. He acknowledged that the real test of the cohesion and pressure-handling ability of the association members will be during the fest.
While telling us about his experience as a coordinator, he said that it gave him a deeper insight into the workings of the events and how to manage multiple things simultaneously. ‘I’m glad that I was able to improve our existing events and even contribute to newer events’, he added.
Talking about his expectations from this APOGEE, Stephen said, ‘This year, APOGEE has definitely tried to be more tech-oriented. The current teams have better experience as compared to our seniors. So we’re looking forward to the fest in its entirety and austerity.’
He concluded the interview by encouraging BITSians to attend and enjoy the various events and explore new avenues of interest.
