Anant Jain, the coordinator of the Coding Club at BITS Pilani, took some time out of his schedule to speak with the APOGEE English Press about the club’s plans for APOGEE 2023.

According to Anant, the Coding Club has planned a total of six events, with two of them being pre-APOGEE. The pre-APOGEE events were Decrypt, a reverse coding event; and a video editing workshop that taught participants how to use Adobe Premiere Pro and Adobe After Effects.

Anant mentioned that the Coding Club developed the software used for the Decrypt event. Additionally, the club has been working hard to integrate the theme of this year’s APOGEE, ‘A Hivemind Genesis’, into their events. One example is their VR experience stall, which is centred around the preservation of the hivemind and is being developed by the club’s game development team.

During APOGEE, the Coding Club will be organizing four events, including Blind Coding, International Coding League, and Stock Market Simulation. Anant also stated that this year’s International Coding League event would be partially offline, unlike last year’s event, which was entirely online. The Stock Market Simulation app will also be available for iOS users this year, in addition to Android users.

Anant mentioned that the Coding Club has been working closely with their juniors to mentor them, and lower the chances of errors occurring during their events. He also expressed his interest in bringing non-coders to the club by introducing fields like VFX and video editing.

Anant stated that he enjoys his experience as the coordinator of the Coding Club and loves working with his juniors, batchmates, and seniors. He urged all BITSians to participate in their events.
