Coding Club

Come Oasis, members of the Coding Club have a job very distinct from their usual club activities. “Organising an event in a major fest is not easy”, says Siddharth Agarwal, the Oasis club coordinator of the Coding Club. With expectations building up for a flawless fest, everyone feels a sense of responsibility toward the grand fiesta that is about to unfold.

This year, the Coding Club is organising two exciting events. One of them will be a pre-Oasis event, Odyssey, a general quiz on this year’s theme. “Of course, it won’t be a technical quiz”, mentions Siddharth, claiming that it will be an event which builds up anticipation for the fest. “It’s a quiz which will include questions from pop culture, mythology, tech, and is sure to tickle your brain”, adds Siddharth.
During Oasis, the Coding Club will host a stall which will have a Kinect based game, ‘Hole in the Wall’. Remember the Pogo show where the participant had to conform to the shape of the wall to survive? Yes, it’s exactly that, but on Kinect! The game will be played by one player, but will be projected on a giant screen so that the people watching can enjoy the event as well.
“The entire club, right from first years to fourth years have been working to make this event a success”, Siddharth said. This year, the club has put in extra efforts to make sure that the event sails smoothly and any possible logistical issues that can come their way are being contemplated. Since having good publicity and hype for the event is half the battle won, the members will focus on promoting their event on various platforms.
“Holding a position such as club coordinator is a great learning experience for me.”, says Siddharth. On being asked on what the one thing he would take back from this experience is, he adds, “You have to communicate with different people in very different ways. You cannot throw technical jargon at someone who doesn’t understand the gravity of what it means. You have to filter”. Apart from his regular academics, he believes that this added responsibility has helped him develop and explore a different aspect of his personality. Siddharth hopes to incorporate the lessons he learnt through this in his future self.
