The BOSM English Press sat down with Aaryav Mishra, the Captain of the Boxing team, to delve into the team’s preparation and aspirations for the upcoming edition of BOSM.
Aaryav revealed that the team is gearing up for BOSM with a dedicated coach, who will be joining them on campus to enhance their skills. The training regime includes rigorous warm-ups, practice sessions focusing on specific combinations, and core training exercises.
The team practices every evening, apart from Sundays. As captain, Aaryav shoulders the responsibility of educating individuals interested in boxing, many of whom may have limited knowledge about the sport. Notably, recruits are chosen based on their ability to quickly grasp new concepts rather than prior experience. Aaryav imparts his knowledge from personal experience and aids in developing routines to enhance their skills.
While the Institute has offered support to the team, they were initially reserved about the introduction of boxing due to concerns about student safety and injury risks. However, efforts have been made to address these concerns and provide reassurance.
Aaryav anticipates facing challenges related to making crucial decisions within a limited timeframe, particularly due to the uncertain status of boxing events in BOSM. He is maintaining smooth communication with the CoSSAc regarding the same. Reflecting on his tenure as captain, Aaryav expressed pride in forming the boxing team and integrating it into the charter, which was a significant achievement. He concluded by commending his dedicated and united team for their commitment to the sport.
