With preparations for BOSM underway, the BOSM English Press approached the Captain of the Boys’ Basketball team for a quick chat on the team’s preparations for the fest.
He shared that he began his journey in basketball in the eighth grade, motivated by a desire to increase his height. He elaborated on his consistent performance on the college team and his eventual promotion to captain. Considering this was his first attempt at captaincy, he added that despite the increase in formalities and responsibilities, his game had only improved. He attributed this to his ability to learn from his own and his teammates’ mistakes. He opined that, as captain, a significant amount of his focus was diverted to the team’s cumulative growth, which was a different experience. He also mentioned that attending all classes along with six hours of practice daily was exhausting, but it helped him balance his academics with sports.
He further went on to state the team’s achievements in the previous edition of BOSM, where they had made it to the finals. He also elaborated on the team’s commendable performance in outstation tournaments. He said that the team’s experiences at IIT Bombay, where they made it to the semi-finals, DTU, and other colleges helped them evolve. Nevertheless, he mentioned that they were excited to play against old and new rivals like SRCC and BITS Goa and hoped to see them in this edition of BOSM.
Jitin mentioned that all sports teams require the enthusiastic support of their fellow BITSians, and despite the continuing classes, he encouraged everyone to spectate the matches.
