Hindi Drama Club

As the campus eagerly anticipates the arrival of BOSM, BITSians prepare themselves for sports and cultural events galore. The BOSM English Press set up a rendezvous with the Coordinator of the Hindi Drama Club (HDC), Saumitra Thakur, to gain some insight into their preparations for the fest.

Throughout the semester, HDChosts a variety of productions in the form of street plays, stage plays, or performances in the main auditorium for the entire BITSian family. The members of the club build their own scripts and act them out. The club also participates in street play and theatre competitions conducted by the Department of Theatre during Oasis.

Besides their regular cultural performances throughout the semester, the club also organizes its flagship event, Amalgam. Amalgam 1.0 was first introduced in InterBITS. The second edition, Amalgam 2.0, will be held during BOSM, where the members of the club act out several plays of short stories based on cultural concepts and emotions.

Saumitra expressed his interest in nurturing the cultural spirit on campus. As a coordinator, he has given full freedom to the members of the club to explore their areas of interest. Currently, the club’s workforce is split into one team managing the street plays and another managing the events during the fest. He hoped that the practice sessions of the club would bear fruit in the events, and invited all BITSians to witness the product of their efforts.
