The coordinator of the Hindi Activities Society (HAS), Rijul Bassamboo, sat down with the Oasis English Press to detail the workings of the club.

HAS is organising four major events for Oasis 2023 — Antaak, Filmy Muqabla, Standup Soap Box, and the renowned N2O.

Rijul explained that Antaak and Filmy Muqabla are Bollywood quizzes on music and cinema respectively. The Standard Soap Box is a pan-India event, where the club interacts with members of different cities and engages in stand-up competitions. The winners of the same get to perform in Oasis. Rijul mentioned that the event would be slightly different and take place in an online fashion this year.

Rijul elaborated on N2O, the stand-up comedy event of the fest, which has previously featured artists like Samay Raina and Biswa Kalyan Rath. ‘The preparations began long back in July’, Rijul added. He said that their preparatory work demanded several management tasks like scrutinising the budget, contacting a vast number of agencies, and determining the dates. Rijul stated that he was excited about N2O, owing to his fondness for stand-up comedy and the intense preparations for the event since July. 

When asked about his experience in the club, Rijul reminisced about the nostalgic tensity of mess signings, ticketing, and intense planning. He added that the club had cultured him, incarnated the satisfaction of teamwork, and cultivated him into a leader.

As a closing remark, Rijul commented that the Hindi Activities Society doesn’t strictly limit itself to the Hindi language and is more focused on producing events that are rushed with hilarity.
