The APOGEE English Press sat down with Yash Tiwari, the coordinator of the Eastern Outlook Club, for a conversation about the upcoming fest.
Yash said that the club hosts one event pre-fest – an anime movie screening on the 31st of March, and three events during the fest. The first of the three events, which will be held from the 4th to the 7th, is the Anime Quiz, their legacy event. The second event is the Game Room, where they set up indoor games like Monopoly and UNO. Their third event — taking place for the first time — is Manga Cafe, where they will decorate a room with an anime theme. The ‘Cafe’ will contain a tier list – where participants can rank their favorite characters, a photo booth, and much more.
Yash explained that the club started working for APOGEE post-Holi, and their pre-fest work included conducting the movie screening. Within the club, there are movie screenings and discussions to keep the members engaged throughout the year.
When asked about challenges faced by the club, Yash mentioned that they had a hard time organizing the prize money for the clubs’ events as the club had just attained SU status, post-Oasis ‘22, and was still pretty new. He said that while the club got the funding for the movie screening, they “are still in talks” for the funding of the quiz. He further stated that they are trying to find sponsors of their own.
When asked about his experience as a coordinator, Yash said it has been very pleasant, notwithstanding budgeting issues.
In conclusion, Yash urged all the students to take part in the events. He emphasized the fact that a lot of work goes into preparing for these events and gave “a big thumbs up” to all the coordinators.
