Snooker- Kush Tekriwal

The BOSM English Press (BEP) reached out to Kush Tekriwal, the Captain of the Snooker Team, to talk about the team’s preparations for the upcoming fest.

Kush started off by mentioning how 8-ball pool, much like snooker, is a cue sport involving hitting the ball with a cue stick and potting the balls into the pockets on the table.

Players get alternate chances to pot as many balls as they can to maximise their score. There are a total of 21 balls, including fifteen red balls, worth one point each. The yellow ball is worth two points, and the green, brown, blue, pink, and black balls are each worth one more point than the prior one in that order, with the black one accounting for seven points.

Kush stated that he was initially sceptical about the team’s strength due to the absence of talented seniors on the team, however, the preparations for BOSM had been going better than he expected. He further rationalised that the new recruits had been engaged in hefty drills regularly and were practising diligently.

Kush declared that the snooker team would be participating in two events in the upcoming BOSM, snooker and 8-ball pool. He further added that while pool is an individual sport, snooker is a team event, with three players from each college trying to win four out of seven frames in a match.

Kush asserted that the lack of inventory and the congestion in the snooker room are the major issues that the team faces.

Lastly, Kush mentioned that his love for snooker grew from his childhood experiences with his uncle, and that those experiences helped him become a more passionate Captain.
