The English Press Club recently sat down with Ananya Bhargava, the captain of the BITS Pilani Girls’ Table Tennis team to talk about their preparations for the upcoming fest.
Ananya mentioned that the team has been practising daily from 5:30 AM to 7:30 AM, guided by a coach. She added that she would have liked more time to be allotted to their practice sessions, however, with the Table Tennis Boys’ team practising from 7:30, they could not do so.
Ananya shared that her journey as the team captain has been a positive experience, remarking, ‘I’ve been able to communicate my expectations well and help my teammates improve.’ She also acknowledged some recent challenges with team attendance, highlighting that a few members had been irregular over the past few days, but optimistically shared that consistency had since improved.
Talking about the potential of the team, she noted that she is confident about it, owing to the amount of hard work everyone has put in this year. She further mentioned having a strong group of players, including the 2024 batch, who were selected after an intensive recruitment process.
With a talented roster and strong leadership, Ananya is hopeful that the efforts of the team will translate to success at BOSM this year.
