The Oasis English Press sat down with Riya Gautam, the Coordinator of the Renewable Energy Club to get an in-depth view of the workings of the club with regards to the Oasis ‘24.
Riya explained that the Renewable Energy Club organised technical projects with professors, hosted workshops related to sustainability development, and participated in intercollege competitions related to renewable energy.
This year the club would be organising three events, namely the solar cooker event, RC Racing, and Cyclotron. The first would be an event that used Professor Manoj Soni’s Solar cooker to cook dishes such as cakes and sabudana khichdi. The second was a new addition to their events this year. She explained that the participants would use solar power driven cars to race against each other. She mentioned that creating the setup for this event was a tough task as they had to make sure the tracks were stable enough for the cars to race on. The last event, Cyclotron, would challenge the participants to ride a cycle that would be connected to a light bulb. The aim was to light the bulb brighter than the other competitors.
Riya said that the preparatory work for the fest began one month prior to the Oasis. She further shared that she had a great experience as the Coordinator of the club, highlighting the cooperativeness of the members. She concluded by suggesting everyone to ‘make memories’ and enjoy all the events during Oasis.
