The Oasis English Press sat down with Manas Chowdhary, the Oasis Coordinator of Embryo to learn more about the workings of the club and their role in the upcoming fest. 

Manas began by saying that the main task of the club was to invite the Chief Guest for the Inauguration Ceremony. He said that they also helped the Film Making Club  find a Chief Guest for their Film Festival event. He mentioned that Embryo also pitched for conducting Prof Shows during the fest and managing hospitality for the various artists this year. Manas stated that apart from bringing the Chief Guest, the club would also be conducting an EDM Nite at Rotunda, a first for the club. 

Manas revealed that the club had started working since June, when they were pitching the Prof Shows. He added that the work was delegated equally to ensure that the process was smooth. He explained that although the club has verticals, they do not come into play until the last leg of preparations. Though, he mentioned that Embryo has a vertical for publicity which handled outreach and promotion, emphasizing the massive role of social media. While Manas intended to keep the Chief Guest’s name under wraps, he said that the person was an accomplished filmmaker. 

He explained that the biggest challenge for Embryo was selecting a Chief Guest for the fest as many of them were engaged in prior commitments due to the release of a lot of films during October. He added that the other major challenge was handling the logistics during the fest.

Reflecting on the club’s past, Manas stated that while Embryo started out as a non-fest club, they had grown tremendously in the past few years and started working during the fests. He noted that expanding their work profile came with a lot of responsibility, which required a level of trust and commitment from the juniors and seniors alike. On his experience as a Coordinator, Manas said that it helped him in diversifying his personality. ‘Our only motto is to expand, we just have to do double of whatever we did last Oasis,’ he added.
