The Oasis English Press sat down with the Coordinator of the Music Club, Utkarsh Thanvi, to gather information about their role in Oasis ‘24.
Utkarsh started by saying that they would be performing at the Inauguration Ceremony on Day 0. Apart from this, he said that they would also be conducting Andholika, a singing competition which would begin on Day 1 and conclude on Day 4.
Utkarsh elaborated that Andholika would be a two phase event handled by the batches of 2023 and 2024. He explained that the first stage of the competition would be a ‘skill check’ from which the top eight contestants would advance to the next round to compete in four categories. He further shared that the job of the members during the second round would be to play the instruments during the performance of various participants at the competition. He added that organising Andholika would be a learning experience for second year students to host the Music Nite in the next semester.
Utkarsh explained they had started preparing the setlist for their performance in June itself, mentioning that the club spent more time thinking of what to play than practising. He said that practice for these events was underway. As far as the workings of the Music Club were concerned, he mentioned that the club put emphasis on punctuality and attendance of all the members in every session.
When asked about his experience as the Coordinator, he described it as a unique opportunity where he had to strike a balance between being a batchmate and performing his duties as a Coordinator. On a parting note, Utkarsh encouraged everyone to attend Andholika, and come to the Inauguration Ceremony to witness them perform. He said that they had been putting efforts into conducting these events and wanted everyone to enjoy them.
