Aryan Bhardwaj, the Coordinator of RadioAktiv, sat down with the Oasis English Press to delve into the details of their preparation for the fest.
Aryan stated that RadioAktiv mainly focused on hosting events during the three fests. He explained that they hosted events like Prom Night, Laser Tag, and Gel Blasters in the previous edition of Oasis. He revealed that in addition to their flagship event, the club would be introducing Rage Room this year, where participants would be provided with a collection of objects they could use to ‘destroy’ the provided setting. The club would also host podcasts throughout this year — an activity they planned on reviving since the end of the Covid pandemic.
Regarding their preparation, he stated that their main focus had always been on the structures, and that they had incorporated this year’s theme in their events extensively. Aryan explained that his Joint Coordinators would be leading the creation of their structures, while he was responsible for Rage Room and the ideation of Prom Night. He also commented that the club wished to create an atmosphere that was welcoming to couples in all stages of their relationship during Prom Nite.
He stated that although he had quite a smooth experience pitching for the club’s new event, there were a few obstacles along the way. He claimed that a certain club had released emails announcing that they would be hosting some of the events that RadioAktiv and other clubs had historically been conducting. He said that this club further pitched this event after RadioAktiv themselves had. He added that although it did not affect the preparations to a great extent, it set a bad example for the rest of the student body.
Aryan explained that their morale had fallen as they usually start preparing for the fest months in advance, but had to halt their preparations due to the uncertainty regarding the occurrence of the fest. He opined that though the new state of affairs might demoralise the students, especially the freshmen, Oasis would be a wonderful experience and is something to not be missed.
On a concluding note, Aryan iterated that Oasis had always been an amazing experience for him, and encouraged every BITSian to attend the fest.
