With the fest right around the corner, the Oasis English Press sat down with Arnav Agarwal, the Coordinator of the Comedy Hub (ComHub), to talk about the events they would be organising.
Arnav stated that ComHub was a fairly new club, and that their mission was to spread the comedy culture in the college by hosting stand-up comedy shows and related events. This year, ComHub would be hosting two events — Stage Show and Pillow Fight — the former being their signature event.
He added that Stage Show would be held in NAB and would emulate the style of professional stand-up comedy shows. Arnav stated that the performing members prepared their sets for the stand-up in advance, which were then discussed in their internal review meets. Pillow Fight required the participants to play games such as Rock, Paper, Scissors with the losing player getting hit with a pillow by the winner. Arnav said that they devised the idea for this event to ‘stay relevant with the current GenZ internet culture’.
Continuing the conversation, Arnav commented that one of the challenges that the club faced was to get suitable timings for Stage Show, emphasising on its importance for the success of the event. He added that the club had ultimately secured a slot of their choice.
When asked about his experience as the Coordinator, he remarked that he had a great time working with his club members as they were extremely supportive and enthusiastic about the fest. Furthermore, he elaborated on how the club collectively wanted to spread their reach by utilising social media platforms, and had plans of increasing their presence on the same in order to gain more audience.
In conclusion, he expressed gratitude towards his fellow members and seniors who helped the club with hosting the events and other related work. He hoped to see every BITSian enjoy the events and have a great time during the fest.
