With preparations for Oasis in full swing, The Oasis English Press sat down with Ramsanjive L, the Coordinator of KalamVansh, to gain insight into their preparations for the fest.
Ramsanjive revealed that this year, they would work on two events — the Hip-Hop Showcase and Cipher. Ramsanjive said that various artists were invited to perform at VK Lawns, and KalamVansh would be performing a set before the artists called the Hip-Hop Showcase. The club had begun finalising a setlist, visualisers for the stage screen, and other prerequisites for the same. He emphasised that they wanted to stay true to the essence of what hip-hop culture was. Accordingly, the club was introducing a new event, Cipher, consisting of freestyle raps performed over a beatboxer’s beat, without microphones. The club members would come together to perform their original music — composed, produced and written all by themselves, he shared.
He recalled the beginning of the 2024 session when KalamVansh had hosted a Cipher at Rotunda. He noted the great response and hence, the club looked forward to attracting a big crowd for the event during Oasis as well. Ramsanjive acknowledged the fact that facing setbacks was unavoidable for any performance-based club, and believed KalamVansh would be able to address any issues related to logistics. Talking about his experience as Coordinator and a co-founder of KalamVansh, he said that he took pride in the rate at which the club had grown, despite being established only a year prior.
As a concluding remark, Ramsanjive requested the fest attendees to show up for KalamVansh’s events.
